After a few good results, the firsts went up to Royal Terrace to play the Bank.
There was only one change from the team that drew with Corstorphine – Maurice replacing Ronnie on board 5.
Ratings-wise, the two teams were fairly evenly matched. We were a bit stronger on board 1, they were stronger on boards 5 and 6.
So, a coin flip game.
First to finish was Shahul, winning with the black pieces. Next was Maurice, who beat the ever-tricky Antoni Kusnierz.
Then two Dutch draws: Steve drawing against the Dutch Defence, David G drawing with it.
And, with Michael drawing on top board against Dave Stewart, we guaranteed victory.
The final game looked headed for a draw until Dougie walked into a fork.
But we’ll take 3.5:2.5.
Now we go into the Christmas break with 7 points from 10 games.
